Location
The University of Sunderland is located in the heart of downtown Sunderland, a city with an approximate population of 300,000. Located in the northeastern region of England on the estuary of the River Wear, the city is on one of the longest and most beautiful stretches of unspoiled coastline in Great Britain. Situated in an area that is famous for its warmth and friendliness, Sunderland is a vibrant city with a rich cultural heritage and a lively nightlife. Nearby attractions include: St. Peter's church, the National Glass Center as well as a 200-berth marina and activities center. Sunderland is also just 30 miles from the cities of Newcastle and Durham and only one hour from the countryside of Weardale, North Pennines, and North York Moors.

Course and Credits Information
The University of Sunderland, with an approximate undergraduate population of 14,000 and an approximate graduate population of 15,000, offers a diverse and dynamic curriculum. Subject areas in which undergraduate coursework is offered include: the Arts, Business, Communications, Computer Science, Design, Education, Engineering, Environmental Science, Informational Technology, and International Studies. Subject areas in which graduate coursework is offered include: the Arts, Business, Communications, Computer Science, Design, Education, Engineering, Environmental Science, Informational Technology, Health Sciences, International Studies, and Social Sciences. Courses are offered on one of two campuses, each a short bus ride away on the university's free shuttle service. The Chester Road campus is next to the city center and the St. Peters campus is on the river, just a short walk from downtown. The university has a large fitness center and offers many activities and clubs in which students can take part. Some internship opportunities are available to students and are normally registered for like any other course. Exchange students have taken internships for credit in the past. Securing a position is dependent upon availability as well as the students' skills and interests.

Accommodation
International students have the option of applying to live in the university residence halls as well as the university owned and managed apartment buildings. Upon acceptance to the exchange program, students should send in their housing applications as soon as possible. Although international students are given priority for university housing, quick follow-up will help students to readily secure a position in campus accommodations. If students prefer to live off-campus, lists of local apartments can be made available to the student.

Transportation
Students make their own flight arrangements. Typically it is less costly to fly from Denver to London and then take a train to Sunderland. Roundtrip airfare from Denver to London may range from $450 to $650.
