Location

located at the University of Paris - Sorbonne and is jointly run
by the University of Colorado at Denver and ACCENT International
Consortium for Academic programs abroad.
Semester in Paris participants earn up to 15 units of transferable
CU-Denver credit. Students can expect to be in class approximately
four hours per day, five days a week. All classes are taught in
French and are equivalent to 3 semester units. All students enroll
in: French 3010: Phonetics The class helps the student acquire some
durable articulatory speech habits through knowledge of phonetics.
Topics include the function of the speech organs, accurate production
and recognition of sound, and the use of phonetic symbols. One of
the following two grammar courses: French 3050: French Composition
I (Third-year French) French 4010: Advanced Composition (Fourth-year
French) One of the following conversation courses: French 2110:
Intermediate French (Conversation and Culture) French 3020: Oral
Practice (Advanced) Students may also enroll in one or two of the
following electives: French 4200: French Civilization to 1789 (Fall
Semester) French 3130: Current Topics of French-Speaking World (Fall
Semester) French 4210: French Civilization from 1789 (Spring Semester)
Fine Arts 4660: Twentieth Century Art (Spring Semester)
Accommodation
Students may choose to live in single occupancy studio apartments
in student residence halls or in a single room in a homestay. Students
in homestays receive breakfast daily. Studio apartments include
kitchenettes and private bath. Housing is provided from the first
day of the program (January 31, 2002).
Transportation
Students on Semester in Paris program make their own transatlantic
flight arrangements. Those flying directly to Paris may choose to
fly either Charles de Gaulle or Orly Airport. Students need to arrive
at the ACCENT Paris Center between 9 am and 5 pm on the first day
of the program (January 31, 2002 for the spring). Students will
receive detailed arrival instructions with their enrollment materials.
Program costs
Program price for the spring of 2002 is $7,200 and it includes:
*Single room in a student residence or homestay
*Breakfast daily for students in homestays
*Tuition at the University of Paris - Sorbonne
*Tuition at the University of Colorado at Denver
*Day excursions to Chartres, Versailles, and Fontainebleau/Vaux-le-Vicomte,
including transportation and guided visits
*Three-day, two-night excursions to Burgundy, including hotel stay,
transportation, and guided visits
*Cultural activity series including an evening ballet, concert
or opera performance
*Orientation program and tour of Paris
*Paris transit pass (Carte Orange)
